What We Do

industry innovation

First, we listen. Then we enter into a collaborative agreement to incorporate 9FIBER’s ingredients into new and existing products. The result is an innovative end product that reduces its carbon footprint and exceeds the customer’s expectations.

Strengthened by a domestic supply chain consisting of a network of agricultural and industrial partners, our team at 9FIBER® provides fully managed production of Engineered Organic Fiber™ ingredients and offers highly efficient sourcing for a wide range of industries.

Our sales and operations teams help to determine the best form of Engineered Organic Fiber for the customer’s business needs. Our staff helps define volume goals, processes reorders, performs market research, and validates new vendors. Our approach not only helps to educate our partners, but also serves as the catalyst for collaboration in the development of new products.

We offer an array of ingredients for industrial, medical, nutritional, and food processing applications. Our suppliers undergo a rigorous audit and inspection process each year, ensuring the highest quality possible for all our raw materials. Since 2017, we have built our business on ethics, ingenuity, and continuous process development even through Covid shutdowns.  9FIBER® processes are continuously refined and documented to ensure the utmost efficiency.

Water Purifier & Glass

CLEAN CONVERSION

At the core of 9FIBER’s Engineered Organic Fiber™ manufacturing process is the preservation of precious water resources. In addition to the eco-friendliness of our closed loop manufacturing process, we selected hemp as our initial feedstock, a plant that is beneficial to the planet as it germinates and matures.

Scaled manufacturing of Engineered Organic Fiber™ requires far less water than cotton or virgin forests and does not have the negative environmental impact associated with petroleum-based products.  USDA data reflects favorably on hemp relative to its impact on O2/CO2 production, soil remediation, and water consumption as compared virgin forests.

circularity

Our hyper-clean, Engineered Organic Fibers are a renewable ingredient that can be used in various industries, including construction, automotive, paper & packaging, cosmetics, electronics and food. Unlike petroleum-based ingredients, our Engineered Organic Fiber™ can be recycled, upcycled, or composted as part of a circular lifecycle, depending on how they are incorporated into products.

The demand for hyper-clean, decontaminated engineered fibers is expected to continue to grow and there will be ongoing research by 9FIBER®  and others in the development of improved nanocellulose materials that contribute to circularity.

The usage of these composites is being encouraged by governments as well as large enterprises to create strong yet more sustainable products, and to reduce the dependence on petroleum. In addition, many bioplastics or biocomposites depend on plants that are better purposed as food, such as sugar cane and corn. Replacing these feedstocks with hemp-based ingredients allows corn, sugar beets, sugar cane and other agricultural products to be more available as a needed food source for the planet, rather than being incorporated into bioresins.

WHAT 9FIBER® MAKES

9FIBER® produces a wide range of ingredients for integration into end-use products, including:

  • Cellulosic Non-food Additives

  • Cellulosic Food Additives

  • Short Engineered Organic Fiber

  • Long Engineered Organic Fiber

Many companies and research organizations in the U.S. are exploring novel solutions to combat global supply issues of inferior quality and unreliable quantity. The increasing demand for cellulosic additives for the expanding food, construction, and chemical synthesis industries is a key reason for the significant growth of this market. Also expanding is research into better utilization of agri-waste both as part of corporate sustainability initiatives and government regulations.

In comparison to other natural fibers like wood, sisal and bamboo, or natural additives like wood pulp and wheat straw, 9FIBER® Engineered Organic Fiber™ provides greater strength and stiffness, consistent color, superior processability, low odor, and a reliable supply of preconditioned and uncontaminated ingredients.
